It’s that time of year again: the resorts are bustling with anxious skiers and snowboarders, ready for some winter fun. Picture it: your first run up the mountain this season. You’ve packed up your equipment and proper gear and head to your favorite resort. A fresh layer of powder accumulated last night, so you can’t wait to hit the slopes, anticipating a long day of adventure and bliss. Finally, you arrive at the day lodge. Upon entering the resort, however, you’re overwhelmed by more than just excitement – but by the scent of pet urine. Your ski trip is suddenly off to a foul start.

One Company’s Failure Allows for Another PuroClean Success Story

In October, we received a call from one of British Columbia’s largest alpine ski resorts, located just outside of the Okanagan Valley. They had a pet urine smell that was really stinking up their carpets. The unpleasant aroma was first detected near the end of last season. At that time, a carpet cleaning company was brought in to address the smell so the resort would be ready for this November.

However, as summer progressed, they realized that the pet urine smell was still as pungent as ever. With less than a month before opening day, they decided that it was time to call in the ‘big guns.’ The PuroClean of Kelowna team headed about 1400m up the mountain to the resort, with pet urine neutralizer/deodorizer and extraction equipment instead of skis.

It took a two-man crew just one day to complete the job. We did not have any time constraints, but we wanted to complete the job quickly so there would be time to check for any further pet urine smell before opening day. Four days later we returned to complete the walkthrough. We were delighted to find the smell was completely gone and no further action was required. The client was ecstatic and they are looking forward to welcoming this season’s visitors with a pleasant-smelling facility.
