Drying Out the Facts with PuroClean: Structural Drying Course Equips Brokers for Success
On a crisp fall morning in September 2024, we open our doors to a group of eager insurance brokers for a hands-on Continuing Education (CE) course. The topic? “Structural Drying for Water Damaged Homes,” which is a subject of critical importance in property restoration and insurance claims, especially in the winter months. With ten brokers in attendance from places across the region, such as Orilla, Port Carling, and Huntsville, each working toward earning valuable RIBO credits, the event perfectly blended industry expertise, practical knowledge, and community connection.
In the spirit of continuing education, our Owner and GM, Eric Gonneau, recently hosted ten insurance brokers in a class on “Structural Drying for Water Damaged Homes.”
Structural Drying for Water-Damaged Homes: A Comprehensive Learning Experience
Led by our Owner and General Manager, Eric Gonneau, the course offered an in-depth look into the intricacies of drying out water-damaged homes—a process vital to preventing further structural damage and ensuring the safety of affected properties. The three-hour session, held from 9 a.m. to noon, covered various aspects, including:
- Historical Context: The course provided a brief overview of how structural drying techniques have evolved.
- Current Techniques and Technologies: Gonneau highlighted the latest industry practices and equipment for efficient structural drying.
- Mould Infiltration and Remediation: Given the region’s susceptibility to mould growth due to high humidity, understanding the interplay between water damage and mould was a focal point.
- IICRC Standards: Participants learned about the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) standards, which provide guidelines for water damage restoration professionals to ensure high-quality outcomes.
By focusing on the theory and practice of structural drying, the course equipped brokers with valuable insights they can pass along to clients dealing with water damage. Attendees not only learned the importance of effective drying techniques but also how these methods can influence insurance claims, making it a highly relevant and beneficial topic for brokers.
A Unique Networking Opportunity
While the educational aspect of learning about structural drying for water-damaged homes was vital, we also ensured that attendees had time to network and unwind. After the course, everyone was invited to enjoy a BBQ lunch!
With a spread that included hamburgers, sausages, salads, fresh vegetables, and cold beverages, our attendees could relax and engage in casual conversation with their peers and the PuroClean team.
Following a full morning of learning, the insurance brokers were more than happy to dig into this delicious BBQ spread.
