While the PuroClean Canada team, including Chairman & CEO Mark W. Davis, Vice-Chairman Frank Torre, and President Jason Reis, awaited the end of the fire’s devastation across Alberta, they strategically planned how PuroClean could best mobilize its resources for fire damage restoration in Victoria, BC, and other affected regions. The first immediate step was to transport the 53-foot PuroClean command trailer from Detroit to the Canadian Distribution Center, where it was stocked and prepared for deployment.
The response plan was put into action as follows:
As the strategic plan for addressing the devastation, infrastructure rebuilding, and employee lodging was being coordinated, PuroClean also mapped out its approach to working with insurance carriers. The team ensured favourable pricing for franchise owners while remaining mindful of the community’s emotional toll.
With Fort McMurray residents unable to return to their homes for three to six months, PuroClean initially focused on commercial restoration jobs. The first project involved one of the city’s largest restaurants, The Wood Buffalo Brewing Company, secured through Travelers Insurance. Signal Restoration Services, a partner of PuroClean and an expert in large-loss property damage restoration, provided guidance on handling such commercial-scale jobs.
A major logistical challenge during the Fort McMurray restoration efforts was securing adequate lodging for the 125 PuroClean technicians and managers. While many restoration and insurance companies chose the costly option of housing staff in oil industry work camps, PuroClean Canada worked with Edmonton North franchise owner Carol Parsons to provide alternative accommodations. The team was housed in 25 fully furnished apartments in the least-affected part of the city. These apartments were stocked with food, high-speed internet, recreation equipment, and more, ensuring that staff could focus on fire damage restoration in Victoria, BC, and beyond, without unnecessary distractions.
PuroClean’s rapid response and efficient resource management not only made a significant difference in Fort McMurray’s recovery but also set a benchmark for effective fire damage restoration in Victoria, BC, and other regions in need of expert restoration services.
