Helping Homeowners in Blackfalds, AB with Fish Tank Flooding Cleanup
Recently, we provided water damage restoration in Blackfalds, AB after responding to an unusual flooding situation. The homeowners, a young couple with two boys under three years of age, had a 600-gallon saltwater fish tank that broke.
Eventually, the tank dumped approximately 400 gallons of saltwater into their living room and down into the garage below. What’s worse, it was a small house, so there was a lot of damage to the family’s contents.
Providing water damage restoration services in Blackfalds, AB
This type of water loss is in the same classification as a sewer loss! Because of that, we took all the necessary precautions when providing water damage restoration services. But, before we could handle the cleanup, we had to move the contents.
The garage had been used for storage, so we ordered a large storage pod for the driveway. This way, we had an area for the things that were unaffected — but needed safe storage — or things that needed to be cleaned and salvaged.
The job needed extensive tear out, sanitizing, and drying. We achieved proper drying using low-grain dehumidifiers and restoration air movers (fans). The job also involved reconstruction including drywall replacement, painting, texturing, and new flooring.
We wrapped up the entire process in nine weeks, but we did not do it in our usual linear timeline. Since the sons are active toddlers, we made sure to insulate and close up the walls immediately after the emergency to make sure it was safe for the family.
