Kitchen Water Damage Repair for a Young Family in Central Alberta
Last month, we provided kitchen water damage repair services in Central Alberta, in a hamlet called Wimborne, 58 km from Red Deer. We arrived there fast and were greeted by a young family – mom, dad, and two sons under four years of age. They live in a typical two-story farm house.
Soon after we greeted, the young family briefed us about the situation. The problem was one that we encounter quite frequently when responding to flood damage incidents. And that is flooding from the upstairs bathroom.
The story goes like this. One of their little boys had been very good about using the toilet upstairs, but somehow managed to make it overflow while his mother was outside. And, unfortunately, the water ran down into the kitchen below and into the wall behind all the kitchen cabinets.
The Home Needed Immediate Kitchen Water Damage Repair
And so, the kitchen needed some serious flood damage repair. The faster the restoration begins, the better the chances to prevent more damage to the home and mould growth.
Also, drying water damaged walls is a challenging task even for the most experienced DIY homeowners. It requires specialized drying equipment and constant monitoring of the moisture levels, which is what flood damage repair professionals do.
We began with an inspection of damaged areas and the extent of the water damage. This helped us create a kitchen water damage repair plan, which we discussed with the family.
The flood damage repair job involved removing the cabinets, a portion of the ceiling, and a large section of the wall. After our technicians completely cleaned and dried the water damaged area, the poor family was left without a usable kitchen!
Yet, this ended up the perfect chance for the lady of the house to make some changes to a kitchen that just didn’t work for a busy young family. We spent extra time working with her, listening to her ideas, and providing reconstruction services. The aim was to give her the kitchen of her dreams within the budget allotted to her by insurance.
A Happy Conclusion
The whole “operation” lasted for nine weeks from inspection to completion even with the cabinets arriving late. And the homeowners were impressed by the sight of their new kitchen and even commented that it looks as good as new!
It’s restoration jobs like these that make us proud to serve our community and we wish the young family a happy and trouble-free life. For any kind of kitchen water damage repair in Central Alberta, we’re ready to come to the rescue.
